Connor Yuhao Wu
Greetings!
Welcome to my personal website! I’m Connor, and my work sits at the intersection of geography and information systems. What drives me is a simple but pressing question: how do the technologies we design—tools like generative AI—end up amplifying inequities in everyday life? Two ideas shape how I approach this. Geographers have long relied on Tobler’s First Law, the reminder that “near things are more related than distant things.” In information systems, Sociotechnical Systems theory offers a parallel insight: technologies never act alone but are always intertwined with people, organizations, and institutions. Taken together, these perspectives urge me to think about place and context not as background details, but as active forces in shaping what technologies do.
My research takes this synthesis into healthcare, asking how the uneven geography of data, providers, and infrastructure—when combined with the organizational choices built into IT systems—creates patterned advantages for some communities and barriers for others. Thanks for stopping by; I hope you’ll find ideas here that spark your own curiosity about how digital tools reshape the landscapes we live in.
